Well, this is a first … a photo in a children’s book entitled Train Travel by DK Publishing. I shot this one back in 2008 in North Burnaby. VIA’s Canadian (Train #2) lead by locomotive 6403, an EMD F40PH-2. Painted in a livery celebrating the 50th anniversary of CBC Radio, which was already a few years past and putting on quite the smoke show. This used to be one of my favourite spots to shoot. On the way home from work, and on a bike route – it was easy shooting. See more of my train photos at All Canada Photos.
That time of the year again, and 2015 has me with three photos on this year’s Canadian Trains Calendar by Wyman Publishing. Bonus this year with both the wall calendar and the mini calendar! March, April and May will be looking pretty good. As usual, big ups to All Canada Photos for making it happen.
I have two images published again in Wyman Publishing‘s 2014 Canadian Trains Calendar! May is my shot of Steam No. 3 of the Prairie Dog Central Railway in Winnipeg. The other shot is July of the Whistler Mountaineer (now called the Rocky Mountaineer Sea to Sky Climb) making its way through the Cheakamus Canyon south of Whistler. This canyon shot also made it as the feature shot on the back cover.
As I mentioned for Wyman’s 2012 calendar, few people know I’m a real geek when it comes to trains. The amount of time I put into hanging out in the baking sun waiting for another late train has decreased over the past few years, but I still love it! I try to make it happen every summer.
